Students awarded these scholarships are those who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism in addition to their academic achievements. Scholarship award checks will be payable to colleges in the students’ names.

Scholarship Eligibility 

• Scholarships are only available to female applicants who are current high school seniors in Wayne County, Michigan.
• Students must plan to continue their education at a public/private colleges or vocational schools as either a part- or full-time student.
• Students must submit two letters of recommendation which can be from someone other than a teacher, but not a family member.
• Relatives of JLD members are not eligible.

Factors Considered in the Application Process Include:

• Submission of a completed application
• GPA of 3.25 or better
• Extracurricular activities, community service and work experience
• Essay question answer
• Awards and honors
